Designer Records Discography (Part I)

Designer
3373 Park Avenue
3109 Park Avenue

The Designer imprint was almost exclusively used for black gospel recordings, which were produced by Wooten and his team in great quantity. Designer was Wooten's most frequently used label and ran from 1967 until 1978, when he ceased his operations. The first part of the Designer contains releases until 1973. The majority of them were recorded when Wooten was still based on 3373 Park Avenue.

Tri-State Records Discography

Tri-State
P.O. Box 11522

The Tri-State label had a post office box adress printed on all labels, in contrast to other Wooten productions. The reason for this oddity is still unknown.

Tentay Records Discography

Tentay

There is nothing to say about this Style Wooten label except for the assumption that Bob Taylor was likely the same who recorded for the Cotton Town Jubilee and Express labels.

Style / Style Way Records Discography

Style / Style Way
3635 Allandale
3109 Park Avenue

Presumably Wooten's third label, after launching Eugenia and Big Style also in 1964. It was the first outfit to feature a distinct label design and was active at least until 1967. The next known release then appeared in 1977 (Guitar Harp McKinley James, now a valuable disc). Style also released one of the few LPs that Wooten produced. At least one release (#45-1967) was issued under the label name of "Style Way" with a different, green design.

Jamboree Records Discography

Jamboree
1032 Brower

This is somewhat of an oddball piece in Style Wooten's recording history. I doubt Jamboree was owned by him, though he was involved in this release at least partially. His Stylecraft Publishing can be spotted on the label. Nevertheless, the record label misses a fancy Wooten design and has a completely different numerical system, adress, and Wooten did not produce the tracks. Jamboree #103 shows "Frontier Productions" and Stybark Music as publisher on the A side, the latter could have been another of Wooten's publishing outlets.

101: Jere Forte - Gypsy Lover / Clover and Grass (1966)
102:
103: Billy H. and the Wonders - No Need Runnin' / Baby (1967)

Four Winds Records Discography

Four Winds
3648 Park Avenue
P.O. Box 11547 Sta.

Four Winds was set up by Wooten in the early 1980s after he had left the recording business in the late 1970s. This outfit was active at least from 1981 until 1987 and obviously specialized in gospel music, similar to the Designer label.

102: Sylvia Mobley - Everytime I See You / Tell Me Clouds (1964)
