Welcome to Mellow's Log Cabin. This blog's purpose is to supply information on a diversity of American southern music - ranging from country, blues, old-time and folk to R&B, rock'n'roll and rockabilly. I regularly present my research results about artists, labels, shows and also give guest writers a chance to publish their texts here on occasion.

120% Heroes of Country

Number 4 - This is maybe the strongest of the six discs (number five is also very good!). Very cool tracks on this, but as I said before, nearly all of them are re-recordings, so the songs loose much of their authentic charm. Though, it's a good disc. Highlights are the Charlie Rich penned "Thanks a Lot" by Johnny Cash, "Gunfight at OK Corral" by Frankie Laine, "Sea of Heartbreak" & "Oh Lonesome Me" by Don Gibson, the western classic "Hi-Yo Silver" by Roy Rogers, "Country Music Is Here to Stay" by Ferlin Husky (maybe recorded under the name of Simon Crum?), "Can't Shake the Sands of Texas From My Shoes" by Gene Autry and "I've Got a Tiger By the Tail" by Buck Owens.
