Welcome to Mellow's Log Cabin. This blog's purpose is to supply information on a diversity of American southern music - ranging from country, blues, old-time and folk to R&B, rock'n'roll and rockabilly. I regularly present my research results about artists, labels, shows and also give guest writers a chance to publish their texts here on occasion.

New Bear Family releases

Bear Family announced today its new CD releases for this month:

The label is going to release a Hank Williams album with his country boogie and juke joint songs entitled "Rockin' Chair Money" (from the "Gonna Shake This Shack Tonight"-series). This features Williams' original up-tempo songs and also overdubbed songs by the Drifting Cowboys. Also scheduled for this month are box sets of Hank Ballard and Eddie Cochran, CDs by rockabilly artist Ray Smith ("The Sun Years, Plus"), country/cajun/rockabilly musician Link Davis ("Big Mamou") and a CD containing all songs recorded by Ken Maynard. Maynard was one of the first singing cowboys in movies, but his musical career wasn't quite so successful. His records flopped and are now very rare - all of them are featured on this release.
