Welcome to Mellow's Log Cabin. This blog's purpose is to supply information on a diversity of American southern music - ranging from country, blues, old-time and folk to R&B, rock'n'roll and rockabilly. I regularly present my research results about artists, labels, shows and also give guest writers a chance to publish their texts here on occasion.

New Bear Family releases

Bear Family Records will release the first five disc of their new series "Country & Western Hit Parade" on November 28. All together, there will be 27 CDs in this series that feature the chart toppers in country and also some songs which didn't made the charts. Each CD has one year as a theme, so the first CD, beginning with 1945, only contains tracks from that year. Besides, every disc has a 70 page booklet with photos, stories... just like a book. Get it here at the official Bear Family site.

Other new releases of Bear Family this month are four new CDs of the "Rocks" series: "Shirley Lee Rock" (Shirley & Lee), "The Cadillacs Rock" (The Cadillacs), "Don Rocks" (Don Gibson) and "Lloyd Rocks" (Lloyd Price). A special box set of Eddy Arnold's recordings 1951 - 1955 with a 52 page booklet is also scheduled for this month.
